　　该剧讲述了高智商、高学历的化学工程师吕云鹏，因亲情触发，只身前往西南边陲，在禁毒干警的保驾护航下，潜伏进入黑暗艰险的贩毒网络之中，与形形色色的毒贩斗智斗勇，一路追查幕后黑手，直捣金三角贩毒集团楚门的核心，经历九死一生，最终配合警方将楚门连根拔起，成为一名功勋卧底的故事。

　　该剧背景设定在一个任何事情都能成为你想象中那样成功的世界，内森·菲尔德让人们有机会为自己的生活排练，探讨一个人如何竭尽全力减少日常生活中的不确定性。菲尔德拥有一支建筑团队、一大批演员和以及看似无限的资源，他允许普通人通过精心设计制作模拟“排练”来为自己生活中最重要的时刻做准备。当一个失误可能会破坏你的整个世界时，为什么不让生活充满机遇？

　　哈特饰一个虚构版本的自己：剧中他仍是演员，只能演主角的搞笑跟班，对此非常厌倦。而如今有人递来了梦中角色——某部影视的男一号、动作明星。但为胜任此角，他必须在全世界最好的动作演员训练中心进行学习。而他在那里的导师(特拉沃尔塔)是一个疯狂古怪的神经病，把他封闭起来仍在艰苦环境里，不停地挑战他的极限，各种夸张、让人害怕的动作戏训练来了。此外他还有对手——一个强硬、不惜一切想赢的学生。
　　该剧灵感来自哈特2016年喜剧演出大电影《凯文·哈特：整点啥呢》的开场画面，由他的制作公司Laugh Out Loud Network打造。
